Hosted trip to the Salmon River in New York - October 3rd-7th 2018
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in booking or have questions
We have 15 available spots open for this trip. If we get more interest than this we may add another 4 night 3 day package.
Join Ryan, the owner of Risen Fly, as he hosts you to some amazing fishing on the Salmon River in New York. You'll enjoy 4 nights and 3 days of fishing for King Salmon, Coho Salmon, Steelhead, lake run Brown Trout and the ultra rare Atlantic Salmon on the Salmon River in Pulaski, NY. We will be fishing from the morning through evening on the Douglaston Salmon Run property. You will enjoy spacious fishing room as they limit the number of fishermen per day on this stretch and since it is the first stretch of water from the lake you will get the freshest fish as they enter the tributary to spawn.
When: This trip will be from October 3rd-7th 2018. You will arrive throughout the day on the 3rd and will check in and get comfortable in our amazing accommodations at a luxurious retreat center. This place has it all to relax when we are not fishing. It sits on 140 acres, has a 2 acre pond, 900 sq/ft deck, wifi, 55" tv, full kitchen, sunroom and so much more.
Cost: $400 includes 4 nights and 3 days stay at the retreat center including all meals and beverages. You will be required to make a $200 deposit upon booking and the remaining $200 will be due by August 31st 2018. You will also be responsible for purchasing a Douglaston Salmon Run pass for the days we are fishing. 2017 costs are $60 for Thursday, $75 for Friday, and $75 for Saturday - total $210. We will recommend that you purchase your daily passes a few months ahead as they do sell out. 7 day New York non-resident license $28. (resident $12)
Fishing: We will be fishing the Salmon river and targeting king salmon, coho salmon, steelhead, and browns with the rare atlantic salmon mixed in. The river is a bottom release stream in which the flow is regulated so conditions can be fairly predictable. At this time of year you can count on tons of kings and cohos with a few steelhead and browns mixed in. The large kings are commonly in the 25-35lb range with a few that topple 40lbs every year.
*** This fishing trip is not guided as we are not guides in the state of New York. We are hosting the trip to give you an amazing opportunity to fish these waters and will assist in getting you ready for the trip and making your accommodations as comfortable as possible.
Gear: We of course can help you out with this. Once you book we will send you information on what gear is needed for this trip and how to prepare. Basic gear needed will be fly rods and reels in the 8-10wt size, leaders and tippet ranging from 10-15 pounds, streamer, egg and nymph flies, waders and boots and a few other items. We will help gear you up with what you need and will also have extra gear there in case of any malfunctioning gear or breaks (which happen often when fighting big fish like this).
We look forward to meeting many of you who have helped and supported Risen Fly over the years. This is a great trip and the many friends I have taken over the years can attest to the great fishing and hospitality I have provided them.
Here's a video of what you can expect on the trip. This is most of our group from 2017.
